LbCas12a was purified from E. coli strain containing the Lachnospiraceae bacterium CRISPR-Cas12a expression gene. LbCas12a belongs to V-type CRISPR Cas system. In the presence of PAM in the target DNA, it is a RNA mediated Nuclease that specifically targets to cut double stranded DNA. Compared to Cas9, Cas12a only requires a single crRNA and has a smaller volume, making it easier to deliver into cells; At the same time, the combination of LbCas12a crRNA complex with complementary single stranded DNA or double stranded DNA releases strong non-specific ssDNA trans cleavage activity, which can be used for Genetic testing and imaging.
