EDTA Tube
Usage: EDTA tubes are also known as blood routine tubes. The additive Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in the tube binds calcium ions and thus blocking the coagulation cascade. EDTA Tube is widely used in clinical hematology testing and applied to various blood cell analysis, such as microscopic examination of blood cell morphology microscopy, red blood cell count, Hematocrit (HCT, PCV), HGB, sickling tests, etc. For proper additive performance, gently invert EDTA tubes for 6-8 times immediately after blood drawing, do not shake. The test is recommended to be completed within 24 hours after blood collection.
Limitations: EDTA tubes are not suitable for the coagulation test, platelet function test, nor for tests of calcium, sodium, iron, Potassium ions, ALP(alkaline phosphatase), CK(creatine kinase) and PCR tests.
